Results of the World Cup races in Bad Kleinkirchheim
Benni Raich celebrates his 30th World Cup Slalom victory at Bad Kleinkirchheim.
On Sunday, 9 December 2007, Benjamin Raich claimed his first victory of the season in the slalom event at Bad Kleinkirchheim, which puts him in pole position in the world ranking. The 29-year-old Tyrolean’s first leg of race placed him in the lead with a 0.66 second gap on Jens Byggmark of Sweden and a 0.72 second gap on Italy's Manfred Moelgg.
Further achievements by Reinfried Herbst and Manfred Pranger, sixth and ninth respectively, saw two other Austrians among the top ten.
Blardone snatches fourth win
On Saturday, 8 December 2007, Italian Massimiliano Blardone won the giant slalom event in Bad Kleinkirchheim, celebrating his fourth victory in the World Cup (all in the giant slalom). Manfred Mölgg took second place to give Italy a double win. America’s Ted Ligety came third ahead of the best-placed Austrian, Benjamin Raich, who finished fourth. The Tyrolean, missed a place on the podium by only three hundredths of a second. Stephan Görgl, also produced an impressive run, finishing eighth.
First-run leader, Thomas Fanara (FRA), committed a massive error on his second run and fell to the bottom of the table.
