Bad Kleinkirchheim is located in the Nockberge mountains – affectionately known as the ‘Nocky Mountains’ – in Carinthia, Austria. Hiking trails and marked tours around Bad Kleinkirchheim
Six nock/art routes lead through the Nockberge Biosphere Park and the Bad Kleinkirchheim valley. Following the hiking suggestions, you will discover the entire scenic spectrum of the region on the most beautiful trails.
From a leisurely stroll in the valley to a tour from summit to summit, there is a route to suit every taste. Along the way, works by renowned artists will surprise you and invite you to change your perspective.

Biking from the mountain to the lake
Under the ‘Nockbike’ theme, you will find a variety of cycle paths around Bad Kleinkirchheim, in the Nockberge Biosphere Park and all the way to Lake Millstätter See. Rustic alpine huts and taverns with hearty snacks await you on your routes.
Gondola biking and flow trail
The longest flow trail in Europe awaits you just 150 metres from the Kaiserburgbahn cable car. With over 14 kilometres, it leads from the imposing cliffs of the Kaiserburg down into the valley. Bike courses and pump tracks are available to hone your skills. Bike hire is available directly at the Kaiserburgbahn. Here you will find all types and sizes.
The Krainer sports school is available for joint excursions or training sessions. Riding technique training & flow trail camp or ‘The Nock Five’ are on offer.
Cable cars in summer
In summer, the Brunnach and Kaiserburgbahn cable cars are in operation. The Brunnach cable car takes you to a hiking area with fantastic views of the Carnic and Julian Alps. An ideal starting point for alpine hikes and challenging summit hikes.
From the Kaiserburgbahn mountain station, it’s just a 45-minute walk to the summit of the Wöllaner Nock. Here you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Carinthian mountains – from the Großglockner to the Koralpe.
The Kärnten Card
The Kärnten Card gives you free admission to a wide range of cultural and tourist attractions, including museums, castles, fortresses and historical sites. The card also often allows free use of cable cars in the region, making it easier for hikers and nature lovers to access breathtaking viewpoints and hiking trails.
Pure tennis pleasure at the
Hotel DIE POST
There are top outdoor and indoor clay tennis courts right next to Hotel DIE POST. Whatever the weather, you can play with your children, other guests or one of the coaches. The Bad Kleinkirchheim tennis club is also based here. And so there are many meetings and matches with the local tennis players. Tennis taster sessions – ‘find friends’ every Monday.
If you don’t have a tennis racket with you, no problem. You can of course hire all the equipment on site. The tennis shop also has balls, shoes, stringing service …
As a guest at the 4-star hotel, you can use the hotel’s own outdoor clay courts free of charge.

Tee time on the 18-hole Kaiserburg championship course in Bad Kleinkirchheim. The Ronacher family play golf themselves and therefore know exactly what is important! We know the most important information for golfers and will organise everything you need. We are also happy to share insider tips.
The golf school is run by Jim Bray. He comes from the USA and has lived in Carinthia for 5 years. He is very familiar with all questions concerning the white ball. He is very popular with golfers thanks to his open manner. Every Thursday there is a free golf taster session for everyone.

In winter, Bad Kleinkirchheim is transformed into a true winter paradise that is equally attractive for winter sports enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation.
Skiers and snowboarders will find perfectly groomed pistes and modern lifts in Bad Kleinkirchheim. The ski area stretches over more than 100 kilometres and offers runs for all ski fans. A particular highlight is the Franz Klammer World Cup downhill run. The Kaiserburgbahn lift is just 150 metres from the hotel and provides access to the ski area. Here you will also find the ski school, ski hire and your free ski depot – it couldn’t be more convenient.

Wonderful cross-country ski trails in Bad Kleinkirchheim
Cross-country skiing and skating are very popular in the Bad Kleinkirchheim region. In the valley (just 200 metres from the hotel) there is an 8 km snow-covered cross-country ski trail. In addition to the ‘leisurely’ variant, there are also more challenging sections. Further high-altitude trails can be found on the Hochrindl, the Turracher Höhe and in Gnesau. Our guide will take you along once a week and show you tips and tricks on how to make the sport even more fun. You can borrow the complete equipment (Nowax skis, boots, poles) free of charge from our hotel.
Ski touring and snowshoeing
Off-piste
The St. Oswald ski area was originally developed as a touring area. The treeless terrain of the Nockberge with its gentle slopes is ideal for this. However, caution is advised when venturing into open terrain! We recommend that you only go and plunge into this adventure with experienced guides who know the local nature and are familiar with the area.

Winter hiking country
Winter hiking is particularly beautiful in the gentle Nockberge mountains. The romantic path in the valley or up the mountains. You can explore the perfect Nockberge terrain with or without snowshoes. The Nocken, those gently rolling mountain ranges, entice with easy tours. Those who want to leave behind the cleared winter hiking trails can look forward to a snowy adventure. We show you the most beautiful places every week.
There are also 3 winter hiking trails with wintry summits! From Kaiserburg, Brunnach and Nockalm you can enjoy wonderful panoramic hikes on paved winter paths.
Tobogganing fun for the whole family
Rapidly down the mountain
Children love tobogganing on small hills or long runs and adults also become children again when they race down the toboggan run at breakneck speed. The pistes around the Kaiserburgbahn, right next to the POST, are ideal for this.
A toboggan run is already a wonderful experience during the day, but in the evening in the dark, tobogganing is a real adventure and an unforgettable experience during your winter holiday in Carinthia.
