A history of well-being
The Ronacher hosts
The Ronacher family and their dedicated team have been running the hotel in Bad Kleinkirchheim for generations. From its opening over 100 years ago until today, the hotel has stood for wellness, spa, thermal springs from St. Kathrein, gourmet cuisine and cultural commitment, known far beyond Carinthia’s borders.
Today, the hotel is run by passionate hosts, Simone and Markus Ronacher. For them, the well-being of their employees is central: ‘Only if our team enjoys their work will our guests also feel comfortable.’ Appreciation is the key word at the Thermenhotel Ronacher. Our long-standing employees are proof that each individual feels like a member of the family.

A look into the past
The history of the Ronacher Hotel is inextricably linked to the thermal spa in Bad Kleinkirchheim. Even in the Middle Ages, people made pilgrimages to the healing spring at the St. Kathrein church. The ‘Badwirt’, as the Ronacher was then called, played a central role in this history.
In 1908, Elise and Hans Ronacher acquired the spa hotel, renovated it and reopened it in 1911 with 50 beds. After an interruption due to the war, the ‘world-famous thermal spa’ was reopened by Frieda and Alberta Ronacher in 1922.
The development continued in the 1960s and 1970s, when Günther Ronacher expanded the business and increased the hotel’s capacity to 160 beds.
In 1991, Markus Ronacher took over the family business from his parents Günther and Helga Ronacher.
In 2001, the Ronacher Thermen- und Wohlfühlwelt was created with five thermal baths, a sauna village and a meditation centre.
In 2002, Simone Maier and Markus Ronacher married and their daughter Sophie was born in December of the same year.

In 2003/04 Simone took over the management of the ‘Hotel Ronacher’, while Markus managed the hotel ‘Die Post’. Both were named ‘Hoteliers of the Year’ by Bertelsmann Verlag in March.
In 2009, the Ronacher celebrated its 100th anniversary with Federal President Dr Heinz Fischer giving the laudatory speech.
In 2011, the gourmet shop and the in-house manufactory were opened, which was honoured with the ‘Golden Tea Leaf’ from Gault Millau.
In 2011, the KULTURGASTSPIELE took place for the first time with stars from stage, film and television performing on the Ronacher Festival stage.
In 2013, the Ronacher received the ‘5 Star Diamond Award’, the highest honour in the hotel industry, presented by the ‘American Academy of Hospitality Sciences’ in New York. The laudatory speech was held by Oscar winner Maximilian Schell.
In 2019, the Ronacher was expanded to include a fun exercise centre, including the first PHYSIO-GYM in Europe as well as a multimedia library and a yoga and meditation centre.
